Successful Enterprise Ireland trade mission to Texas
The Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Richard Bruton TD, hosted on a 4-day trade mission of 40 innovative exporting Irish companies to Texas last week amongst which SureSkills featured strongly. Over the course of the 4-day Enterprise Ireland organised programme, SureSkills attended with the Minister over 20 trade events and meetings in Houston, Dallas and Austin, as well as holding meetings with multinational companies already working with SureSkills or considering doing so.
SureSkills joined forty of Ireland’s leading innovative exporting companies as they develop new business opportunities in one of the world’s biggest markets. The economy of Texas is one of the largest and most rapidly growing economies in the United States. Texas has an economy that is the second largest in the US and the 15th largest in the world based on GDP figures, similar to Canada. As the largest exporter of goods in the United States, Texas currently grosses more than $100 billion a year in trade with other nations.
Brian Kinsella, CEO of SureSkills Ltd., said: “I am delighted to be part of this important trade mission to Texas. SureSkills Learning Services was designed with the global market place in mind and we have significant opportunities in Texas and the US market as a whole.” Over the past year, SureSkills has hit a number of important milestones. The company is in business 20 years, it’s turnover has grown 20% year on year and this week saw the company showcase it's Learning Services methodology for the first time at the Texas meetings. Speaking at one of the press calls Minister Bruton said: “At the heart of the Government’s plan for jobs and growth is our ambition to create a powerful engine of indigenous enterprise. As part of the transition to a new economy based on enterprise, innovation and exports that we are supporting, we must not only continue to grow jobs in multinational companies, but also support ambitious Irish companies seeking to grow their exports and jobs".
SureSkills Director of Learning Services Ross Bolton said: ‘This is a timely and exciting opportunity for our company in the US. Texas has an economy that is the second largest in the US and the 15th largest in the world. The economic boom being experienced in Texas and the Southern States provides an opportunity for SureSkills to forge partnerships where there is a clear win-win for both sides.’
This is the 13th trade mission that Minister Bruton has been on since he took the position in March of 2011, and it is his first to Texas. Recent years have spawned a boom in business for the State of Texas, with the leading growth industries being the Technology and biotech sectors. Commenting on the success of the meetings Ross Bolton of SureSkills said: “'This was highly successful both in terms of business secured and introductions and connections made during the mission and the platform it provides for substantial growth for SureSkills. The companies we met all expressed strong interest in what Ireland and Irish companies have to offer. The trade mission will help ensure Irish companies like ours continue to grow strongly and SureSkills, in partnership with our clients, will continue to capitalise on the clear win win opportunities.” About SureSkills; SureSkills is one of the largest IT training companies in Ireland, it delivers global learning solutions worldwide against a backdrop of integrated learning services and IT consulting experience.
