ITIL 4 – The new update coming in 2019
As mentioned earlier in the year, SureSkills want to advise that AXELOS has announced at the itSMF USA Fusion 2017 conference that there is going to be a significant update to the ITIL 2011 framework. AXELOS’s CEO, Peter Hepworth explained that this refreshing update will focus on three main areas which include:
- The core principles of quality service management
- Practical guidance on how to use ITIL
- How ITIL can be used in conjunction with DevOps, Agile and Lean
This new edition which is being updated this year, is going to be launched in early 2019. So what does this mean for ITIL certification holders? All ITIL V3/ 2011 certifications are still valid, it is up to the certificate holder if they want to upgrade. Adapting to the change in IT operations, Axelos have decided to include practical information on how ITIL integrates with DevOps, Agile and Lean.
“ITIL and Service Management is dynamic and continues to be relevant and a critical element in the effective operation of resources for any business” says Ruaidhri McSharry, SureSkills Director Service Management. This is an exciting time for the ITSM industry as ITIL remains best practice. Based on this research, the fundamental elements of ITIL will continue to evolve from the experiences of thousands of specialists and experts worldwide. AXELOS have also called on the help of IT experts, with the creation of the ITIL Development Group, which has over 2000 members at present. The introduction of this group has been the driving force of ITIL 4. AXELOS have assured that ‘the crossover period from the current version will allow sufficient time to minimize the impact on your day-to-day operations.”
